COACHES, REFEREES & VOLUNTEERS

For all Confirmed Coaches for 2026, please complete this Volunteer form. This will allow you access to the team list and to be able to enter game scores on the day. If you are not sure if you have been confirmed as a coach, please contact your Grade Manager or the Club Secretary. 

In collaboration with Capital Football please join us on 19th April, 2:30–4:30pm at the clubrooms (David Farrington Park) for a hands-on coaching session ahead of the season kickoff!We’re excited to have Maika from Capital Football leading the session, with our senior club players demonstrating practical drills you can take straight to the field.

This is part of Miramar Rangers commitment to ensuring we maximise enjoyment, learning and development for all our players, and to give our valuable volunteer coaches the tools they need to succeed and confidently coach their teams.Who is the session targeted at?

  • Any new or existing Junior Coaches or those that have an interest and are thinking of getting into coaching

What will you gain from the session?

  • Practical, on-field learning
  • First Kicks - U9 grade coaches will be taken through the curriculum for the Fundamentals of Junior Coaching
  • U10-13 will be taken through the curriculum for the Junior Level 1 Coaching Award
  • All coaches will have access to the resources and the opportunity to complete the online modules to complete their qualification at this level.

COACHES

Miramar Rangers junior teams rely on parent volunteers to coach, manage and referee their teams. Coaching involves running training sessions and coaching from the sidelines at Saturday games.

MANAGERS

Most teams also appoint another parent as team manager to assist with scheduling, logistics and communication.

You can also let us know via the Registration form if you are able to help out this season. 

REFEREES

For U8 and U9, the kids are largely self-moderating as they learn the ropes. From U10 Grade onwards, all matches have on-pitch volunteer referees. From U10 Grade onwards, all JPL (or Premier) teams are required to provide a qualified referee. Capital Football runs refereeing courses through the season and there is usually at least one per season run at the club. GRADE MANAGERS

The Junior arm of the club is run by a small committee made up of volunteer Grade Managers, the Junior Chairman (Chris Atkin), Club Administrator (Lesley Jenkin) and Football Development staff. This group meets monthly year-round and oversees the trial process, puts teams together, appoints coaches, and provides leadership for other club activities such as fundraising and community liaison and events.

Miramar Rangers is an enthusiastic supporter of the NZ Football-led national development structure. This approach aligns all our development programmes to provide a unified pathway into the game and delivers a consistent experience to our children. The goal of this plan is for everyone, regardless of age, gender or ability to enjoy a high quality of football that’s tailored to his or her needs. It also reduces the barriers to coaching and provides all coaches with the resources they need.

COACHING COURSES

Within the Whole of Football programme there are courses to help our many volunteers to learn the rules and how to become confident coaches and referees. These courses are age/grade appropriate so you learn while your children are learning the game. Due to our numbers we try to facilitate these courses at our clubrooms and early on in the season. Miramar Rangers AFC will complete police checks on all new junior coaches to ensure the ultimate safety of all our junior players.
